"The Other Guys" Review - Take Two

GAH.

It's the latest movie in a summer of......craptastic movies! But guess what!? This is the crappiest of them all! You know how Rotten Potatoes said "The Last Airbender" was like the worst movie of all time?!?! Guess what! This BEATS IT! "The Other Guys" is one of those movies that through out most of the movie you find yourself gagging at the stupid jokes, stupid drama, stupid special effects, and tons of other stuff. IT SUCKS!

Without a doubt in my mind my biggest complaint with this movie is at the very end. The two idiots are driving away in some crappy car and then the camera zooms out. Everyone in the audience is like, "Thank God...the movie is now over at least it cant get any crappier." But...lo and behold "The Other Guys" somehow manages to make the movie ten times worse. As the camera zooms out suddenly a flying peacock appears out of nowhere. For one thing, I DESPISE PEACOCKS. They're stupid, idiotic, useless birds. I find myself often wishing that the dodo bird and peacock could switch places. Then I wouldn't have to look at the bird that clearly is the SCUM OF THE EARTH. Seriously, ask yourself what good does the Peacock do for the Earth? NOTHING. In fact they just attack people. As a young child I was just walking through a park where Peacocks roamed free. At this age I didn't realize how mean and ruthless creatures Peacocks were capable of being. I ran up to it attempts to hug the bird. Suddenly it starts hissing at me! YES. HISSING. It's tongue was spraying saliva at me! So I ran off crying off my eyes out to my Mother. Ask yourself. What was the point of the Peacock hissing and spraying it's peacock saliva all over me!!?!?! How could a child possibly even "somewhat" harm a Peacock? Clearly the Peacock was not doing it out of self-defense he was doing it because he's a COMPLETE FREAKING JERK. So yeah...I hate Peacocks. Also, I got something to tell Will Ferrel. Guess what BUDDY. PEACOCKS DON'T FREAKING FLY!!! Everyone with any form of education knows that Peacocks DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO FLY!!! GAHHHHH IT'S SO IRRITATING. NOW WILL FERELL IS CORRUPTING THE YOUTH OF AMERICA BY PUTTING A FRIGGIN FLYING PEACOCK IN A MOVIE!!!()&@$)@$)&@$)&@$()&!@()$&!)@$&()@&$)@&!)$&!@()%&()!@&%()!@&%$

REVIEW:

The only question is, was it funny? To me, YES. I'm even going to go out on a limb and say it was funnier than The Hangover. The only part of The Hangover that was funny to me was Zach Galifiniakis, and that only kept me at a steady chuckle. Though The Other Guys wasn't extremely consistent, there were parts that made me laugh harder than I have at a movie in a long time.

If you are a Ferrell fan, you will not be disappointed. There was only about 3 to 4 days of actual rehearsal, so his improv was basically the whole movie. And it was HILARIOUS. But there were a couple other scenes that made me ROFL. Mark Wahlberg does what he is supposed to, be a foil for Ferrell's character; however, I found myself being annoyed by it at times. The supporting cast does a good job too, with an ok gag from Michael Keaton (got very thin), and funny exchanges with Ferrell's wife.

As far as Ferrell-McKay movies go, this movie was very smart. The story wasn't fantastic and relied on a lot of formula, but it was fine. The laughs definitely outweigh any flaws. Smith, this is how you do a buddy-cop comedy. Cop Out is not. So even if you do not enjoy McKay's movies, The Other Guys provides good laughs and solid summer entertainment.

"Dinner for Schmucks" Review

He finds one with a weird obsession with dead Mice,

As summer unfolds we are greeted with yet another disappointing summer movie. Don't get me wrong, "Dinner For Schmucks" isn't a terrible movie. But in the wake of a stream of bad movies this summer, "Dinner For Schmucks" provides another largely "forgettable" movie.

When a movie has a cast like this it's impossible not to have some laughs. It sports the talents of Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and Zach Galifianakis all together in the SAME MOVIE! Thus, this movie has to be like the funniest movie of the entire summer!? It's not. It seems at times that "Dinner For Schmucks" knows it needs to be a funny movie thus, it tries way too hard. This trying turns out to be less funny and more...irritating.

It seems as though with this review that I'm being quite negative. And, once again I want to ensure you that it really isn't a terrible movie. It provides lots of laughs but sometimes thinks it's a lot funnier than it really is.

What's equally shocking about the movie is the matter that Paramount has actually hired a TALENTED director. A director that's even won an Oscar! David Guggenheim director of Oscar-Winning "The Inconvenient Truth" has decided to sink low enough to direct this movie. The release date is currently set for, February 11, 2011.

The visuals? Already covered.

The way the movie relies mostly on razzle and dazzle rather then drama? Already Covered.

Many other details? Also, already covered.

So what's left?

Well...readers just a earnest proclamation. Do yourself a favor and go see this movie. Don't go see it once. See it twice. Maybe even three times. Do this for two reasons.

The first reason, it sends Hollywood a message that we as a public are tired of the endless flow of constant sequels, remakes, and romantic comedies that plague us yearly. It shows Hollywood that we are ready for new ideas.

The second reason, this movie actually benefits from repeat viewings. It's nearly impossible to catch everything in the first viewing and I personally believe that it gets better with each viewing.

And....yeah, that's pretty much it!

DESCRIPTION:

REVIEW:

To start out, here are some words to describe it:
Incredible, Awesome, Thrilling, Jaw-dropping, Visually Stunning, Mind-bending, Jackhammer

Yeah, it was good.

In my opinion, Inception wasn't all that complicated. The rules of the dream world are explained basically by Ellen Page, her only job in the movie. And then you use those throughout the movie. You get the basic narrative: Technology exists where you can share dreams and steal ideas.. or plant them?!?! And it only gets complicated if you decide on an alternative that presents itself at the end of the movie. Then many things could have occurred. You just have to pay attention, and never use the bathroom. This movie makes you think throughout, and after the credits roll. You will want to see it again.

Christopher Nolan is a great director, arguably the best of the decade. He mostly uses very intelligent and innovative film noir. Inception is a bit like an earlier film, Memento, which you also need to see. Both movies use the protagonist to emotionally drive the movie because they both experienced a major loss, who also turns out to be the antagonist in Inception. Now I'm not saying Leo does a bad job of it, it's just nothing new. He portrays it a lot like in a recent film, Shutter Island. All the other leads do great; however, none play a very big role, resulting in not too much character development.

Nolan is very literal-minded. In Inception, the character's dreams are just like reality. Very sophisticated structurally and architecturally. Now this could be a good thing or a bad thing. For example, if they used my dreams, it would get out of hand. Dinosaurs and supermodels would be running wild. Zack Snyder's upcoming film, Sucker Punch, seems to be using the latter. I prefer what Nolan does in Inception.

Visually, Inception is amazing. It has one of the best fight scenes I have ever seen. And when all that dream within a dream stuff is going on, the editing is fantastic. Nolan doesn't particularly like CGI and uses practical methods, which make the experience even better. Also, like us, he is not a fan of 3D. Wally Pfister's cinematography is great, and so is Hans Zimmer's score.

A lot of critics denounce Inception for its lack of emotional resonance. In my opinion, it has just enough of it. Anymore and they would probably say it is overly sentimental. Films are always going to receive criticism, but I can't think of much to critize. It succeeds in a ton of ways. Inception is a must-see in the midst of all these brainless summer flicks (cough Twilight cough).

Len Wiseman Now Directing Total Recall Remake

Total Recall, the awesome, super violent, and delightfully cheesy B-movie, will receive a "contemporized adaptation" that will most likely be directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard). Kurt Wimmer has been hired to write the script, which makes it more likely this movie will fail, since his recent credits include the implausible thrillers, Salt and Law Abiding Citizen, which both sucked. There is absolutely no reason for a remake so they can just ruin this clever concept.

So go see the original if you havn't already, and tell us whether this is necessary, or if Hollywood will screw up yet another remake.

Transformers 3 is now filming in downtown Chicago, and you already get to see the entire movie!

Explosions. Cars. Guns. That hot chick who replaced Megan Fox. And explosions. There's the movie.

But maybe, just maybe by some miracle, this one will be different. Maybe it will have characters, a plot, and true emotion.

But no matter what, they are going to make money. So they don't care. They can and will just molest the public's eyeballs with CGI and explosions for two hours and get away with it.

So when you read this Micheal Bay, how about we actually try and give the audience a good movie for a change? They want, and need it.

For a second week, "Inception" once again tops the Box Office. The hit movie grossed over, $42 Million bringing it's total to a huge $142 Million. Inception beat out newcomer, "Salt" which only managed to make $36 Million at the box office. Other newcomer "Ramona and Beezus" fared even worse failing to place in even the top three it walked away from the box office with a mere $7.8 Million. Coming in at third place was "Despicable Me" which continues to have a rather large hold on the box office with a $23 Million weekend bringing it's total to $161 Million. Next week, "Dinner For Schmucks", "Charlie St. Cloud", and "Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore" all make their debut at the box office who will come out on top? This just in. Director, Larry Charles and actor Jim Carrey are reportedly teaming up for a brand new movie titled, "Pierre Pierre." Oh and GET THIS! IT'S NOT A REMAKE OR A SEQUEL!!!! HALLELUJAH! We at, Rotten Potatoes are extremely supportive of new ideas in Hollywood. The synopsis of the movie seems to have Jim Carrey playing the role of a Frenchmen who has just stolen a famous painting from Paris. Apparently, Carrey's character is obscenely obnoxious. Hmm......possible type casting? What's even more shocking about the update is the very small budget of just $20 million. Hmmmmmm...what do you readers think?

Star Trek 2 Set to Shoot in January 2011

Box Office Updates - Inception Leads the Pack

We at Rotten Potatoes are extremely satisfied with the outcome of the latest box office weekend. Inception led the way with a very solid 62.8 Million. While, comparably smaller than more recent box office releases, Inception is also a brand new franchise and positive word of mouth should serve it very well in the coming weeks at the box office. Coming in at second place with 32 million was last weeks 1st place, "Despicable Me." Total earnings for "Despicable Me" total 118 million. The other new release this week was, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and it didn't far to well at the box office totaling a very disappointing $17 Million. The movie was released on Wednesday in the US and clearly that failed to help it very much because the movie has still only made 24 million total gross. Which, is extremely bad news for Disney especially when you see the $150 million plus budget.

Buzz Lightyear Spinoff movie anyone?

Coming alarmingly close to the release of "Toy Story 3" comes the news of Tim Allen signing on for "Toy Story 4." Now potato readers, don't get to excited...yet. Just because Tim Allen has agreed to play Buzz for a fourth adventure doesn't mean it will actually ever happen. It just means, that the folks at Disney are considering it.

And, for those of you itching to get your Toy Story fix. Don't worry. You wont have to wait another ten years to see your beloved toys on the screen again. Reportedly, next summer the short film attached to, Cars 2 stars none other than the TOY STORY CHARACTERS!

"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Review

Finally you realize it,

you should be watching Fantasia instead

Yet again, another cheesy action movie enters our disappointing summer of movies. This new movie is Disney's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." And, it's smells a bit rotten.

I have to admit. I went into the theater expecting very little from this movie and left with pretty much the same reaction. Jay Baruchel's recent effort, "She's out of my League", led me to believe he was possibly one of the most annoying actors in Hollywood. However, I have to give him credit in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" he steps away from that annoying character and becomes just largely forgettable! So, yes Baruchel is showing "slight" signs of improvement. Also starring alongside, Baruchel is big-name actor, Nicholas Cage, who goes through the movie playing a character similar to pretty much every other character he's ever played. Only this time, he's got long hair.

The story in the movie is pretty expected. Ancient evil is unleashed that wants to......DESTROY THE WORLD! Pretty typical plot. As already noted, the story just drags out for such a long time that really it's hard to care what's going on. You get a couple of laughs, you get a couple of actions scenes, and some decent special effects.

Now, don't get me wrong. The movie isn't terrible. It's definitely watchable unlike a recent summer movie, *cough* Last Airbender *cough*. But, really, what the movie comes down to is plainly it's a "Popcorn" movie. Last time we mentioned a movie like this it was praise towards, "The A-Team." This time however, "Popcorn" movie doesn't cut it.

I prefer Mickey Mouse.

Joaquin Phoenix Gets Pooped On

In case you didn't already know, Joaquin Phoenix has been showing very eccentric behavior lately including: appearing high as a kite on the David Letterman Show, rapping, and always fashioning those shades and the beard. Oh I remember the good ol' days when he was still acting, playing Johnny Cash and that pervert Caesar.. So is this all staged? Is this a documentary or a mockumentary of a wild year? Magnolia, who bought the film, described it in their press release as such:

[a] striking portrayal of a tumultuous year in the life of internationally acclaimed actor Joaquin Phoenix…sometimes funny, sometimes shocking and always riveting, the film is a portrait of an artist at a crossroads. Defying expectations, it deftly explores notions of courage and creative reinvention, as well as the ramifications of a life spent in the public eye.

Extreme behavior is also said to be in the film. Reportedly, it includes on-screen cocaine use, hiring hookers, oral sex with a publicist, a great deal of full frontal male nudity and a scene in which someone poops on Phoenix while he sleeps. You really want to see this now, don't you? It has a limited release on September 10 but will be wider a week later.

So The Night Chronicles? Really? For such a bad director, he is incredibly cocky. He even once compared himself to Hitchcock and Spielberg. DEVIL isn't directed by him, which is a plus; however, he is writing. Now it does seem like a cool concept, but you can already hear the terrible Shyamalan dialogue in the trailer. We'll just have to wait and see when it is released, September 17th.

The second film in the storybook, Twelve Strangers, has been described as a jury case dealing with the supernatural. This one seems like a pretty dumb concept.

So what do you think? Could Shyamalan get his reputation back from when he made a whopping 2 (1?) good movies? Doubtful, but we still want YOU to COMMENT.

After, seeing the success of "Alice In Wonderland" (grossed over 1 Billion worldwide) studios have become much more eager to adapt fairy tales into movies. The latest movie adaption concerns, the Broadway musical hit, "Wicked." The show is known as a prequel story to the original "Wizard of Oz." The basic premise is this....*courtesy of Wikipedia*

"The novel presents events, characters and situations from Baum's books and the film in new ways, with many differences between the series and the Wicked Years. Box Office Updates - Despicable Me Surprises with $60 Million Weekend

Box Office analysts are amazed. Universal Studio's new movie, "Despicable Me" beat expectations with a very respectable debut of $60 million also placing first at the box office. The movie has received very positive word from both critics and audiences. Which should serve it well in the hot dreary days of the summer. Placing second was last week's top movie, "Eclipse" with a $33 million finish bringing it's total gross to, a huge $237 million. Placing third this week was a new entry to the summer box office, Fox Studio's "Predators" which finished with a disappointing $25 million. Also worth mentioning this week is Toy Story 3 the movie that continues to maintain a strong hold on the competition. The movie finished with $22 million bringing it's total domestic gross to $340 million. Worldwide, the movie has earned over $550 million. Clearly, the movie continues to be on the fast track for overall highest grossing movie of the year.

Despicable me was a breath of fresh air to me, even though it may seem like other animated features. Even being very similar to Looney Tunes, they made it their own in a unique way. This was a plus for me, since I love the wacky and edgy humor of Looney Tunes. And Despicable Me was pretty funny. Kids will love it, especially the minions.

You could also feel some Pixar in the cute and adorable moments, but it was done correctly. The voice acting of Steve Carell was great, and made you want to talk like him the rest of the night. The soundtrack was good too, and made you want to dance all cool like. Its just an all-around fun movie. No matter what age, go see it. It may not be the best animated film evar, but you won't regret it.

So in conclusion, Despicable Me may follow some formula, but it still will surprise you with a lot of funny sight gags, good storyline, minions, and heart.

Avatar Returning to 3D and Imax Theaters on August 27th

On August 27th, Fox Studios will once again attack your wallets with a re-release of the highest grossing movie of all time, "Avatar." The studio had this to say on the subject...

"Since - and largely as of result of - Avatar's release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D, as well as fans that want to return to Pandora again, will now have that opportunity."

The movie will also include an additional never before seen 8 minutes of bonus footage!

Honestly, Fox is coming across as a company trying to squeeze as much money out of the consumer as possible. "Avatar" is already the highest grossing movie of all time, and highest selling Blu-Ray. It's also sold millions of digital and DVD copies. And, now Fox is expecting the consumer to once again pay a FULL TICKET PRICE for 8 minutes of additional footage?!? Why wasn't this footage included in the special features section of the DVD release? Does Fox have any other franchises besides, Avatar?

Lindsay Lohan - GOING TO JAIL

Lindsay Lohan, is going to jail. The judge showed little sympathy as she banged down the mallet and sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail. As seen in the picture Lohan was clearly less than satisfied with the sentence. Reportedly, Lohan changed her clothes three times through out the court proceedings. Here's the deal: Life in a day will incorporate videos sent by YOU that you have captured on July 24th, 2010 into a documentary. Macdonald will take the "most compelling and distinctive footage". They are calling it a “historic global experiment to create the world’s largest user-generated feature film: a documentary, shot in a single day, by you.” And Macdonald says the project is "a time capsule that will tell future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July, 2010. It is a unique experiment in social filmmaking, and what better way to gather a limitless array of footage than to engage the world’s online community." Life in a Day sounds very interesting, but I am curious to see how it will have a narrative.

Video games being made into movies always have the same result...FAILURE. So why Hollywood? Why? Efforts are being made to reduce the budget, since they are always losing money with the video game adaptations. For example, Prince of Persia. Took $200 million to make while only making $88 million. And it was still the 2nd highest grossing video game movie of all time. AND it was a ROTTEN POTATO. So it is very obvious why the money should go to more important things. The latest movie that Hollywood is trying to adapt into a movie is a game called "Bioshock." Never heard of it? Rotten Potatoes has got you covered with some handy background on the game...

Set in an alternate history 1960, the game places the player in the role of a plane crash survivor named Jack, who must explore the underwater city of Rapture, and survive attacks by the mutated beings and mechanical drones that populate it. The game incorporates elements found in role-playing and survival games, and is described by the developers and Levine as a "spiritual successor" to their previous titles in the System Shock series. The game received overwhelmingly positive reviews, which praised its "morality-based" storyline, immersive environment and Ayn Rand-inspired dystopian back-story.

Sounds interesting eh? Reportedly, Gore Verbinski (Director of Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) is itching to make it. However, when he took it to movie company Universal, they were a bit taken aback by the exorbitant price. Totaling a huge, $160 million. Another factor scaring Universal was Verbinski's conviction that Bioshock would have to be an R-rated feature. Which, Universal is afraid, would lead to limited Box office appeal. What will happen? Cloverfield director Matt Reeves' new film, Let Me In, is a very similar remake of the swedish horror flick, Let the Right One In. Maybe it could get some attention off the horrible romantic vampire movies nowadays? I can only hope.. Here is the official plot:

The very basics is that Leo can steal ideas from people's dreams. Sadly, you will have to make do with these other critics until our review comes out. In what was actually a rather disappointing 4th of July weekend. Eclipse, unsurprisingly came out on top. With $69 Million for the weekend this boosts the total gross of the movie to a huge $161 Million. Fighting, the worst reviews of the entire year, "The Last Airbender" somehow managed to place second earning an estimated $40 Million. The movie opened on Thursday which brings its total gross to $57 Million. Third place finisher, "Toy Story 3" continued to impress with a $30 Million weekend bringing it's total gross to $289 Million. Toy Story 3 is looking like a strong contender for overall highest grossing movie of the year.

This time the twist is....

IT'S THE WORST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!

REVIEW: I'll admit it. Maybe the claim "It's the worst movie of all time" is a bit exaggerated. However, this does not disguise the fact that the movie is extremely awful and is a something you should avoid like the plague.

Let's start with the acting. Atrocious. Shyamalan's job as a director of a movie is to guide actors towards providing a good performance. Once, again he fails. The titular character, Aang (played by Noah Ringer), is a total joke through out the movie. He's so uninteresting that it really becomes hard to bother caring for the character at all. Although, it's also hard to care about the entire movie in general. Other supporting cast members provide us with additional terrible performances. Among, all this bad acting there is one character that provides us some relief from all the bad acting and his name is Dav Patel. Coming fresh off of his starring role in the Oscar winning "Slumdog Millionaire" it's rather ironic that he could go from such an amazing movie to such an abomination. Whatever the case Dav Patel's performance definitely stands out from all of the other terrible performances. Dont get me wrong Patel's performance isn't amazing but it is....ok. It's a truly sad day when the only performance a reviewer can praise within in a movie is merely an "ok" one. Once again, acting = atrocious.

Next up is...the story. Ugh. Maybe...just maybe this movie could have been a decent movie if Shyamalan hadn't been allowed to write his own adapted screenplay for the movie. Unfortunately, he was. And, he completely tarnishes the story from the hit television show. For some reason Shyamalan thought it would be possible to condense an entire season of a television show into one 1.5 hour movie. This is impossible. Thus, leading the movie into a bunch of confusing, incomprehensible scenes. 2.5 hours probably would have done the job. Then again, that would mean enduring a whole extra hour of Shyamalan. It's hard enough sitting there for 1.5 hours. So perhaps, this is actually a blessing in disguise. Long story short Paramount should have hired a capable writer. They hired Shyamalan. Thus, the story...sucks.

Finally, we are going to take a look at the special effects. I was fortunate enough to see the 2D version thus not having to pay extra for the 3D version of the movie which, other critics report, serves to make the movie even worse. When discussing the special effects one has to realize that this is sadly the highlight of the movie. However, most of the time it appears as though the special effects are wasted. Case in point, during the final scene of the movie we see a minion of the fire nation mounted upon a gigantic lizard creature. The lizard and the villain climb up a wall and.............the lizard is never seen again. What was the point of this? Why waste possibly additional millions on a lizard seen for approximately 10-15 seconds? Once again, Shyamalan shows his lack of sense when it comes to making movies.

To conclude, if you really want to see "The Last Airbender".........DONT. Instead, go to Amazon and buy the animated series. You're welcome.

This is our thinking on what the plot will be: Daughter goes missing so dad flips and uses the force to kill EVERYONE. We've seen it all before. Shamalamadingdong is just giving someone powers. *YAWN*. His latest outing, Avatar: The Last Airbender, received horrible reviews, so expectations aren't very high (don't worry, our review coming soon). "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" Review

Um....

What can really be said about the Twilight Saga that hasn't already been said? It sucks. It is a mockery of the cinema. It is a mockery of literature. It is a wannabe Harry Potter. It makes Vampires into sparkling freaks. It makes Werewolves look like big and lovable puppies. It contains a cast of bad actors. It has terrible special effects. Look, I can go on and on...and it all comes down to....it Sucks.

Somehow, or another the folks at Summit Entertainment have managed to scratch together enough money to provide viewers with yet another installment in the so-called epic saga of Twilight. The folks at Summit Entertainment unsurprisingly produce yet another terrible movie.

I was somehow lucky enough to garner a ticket to the Midnight showing of Eclipse. People were lining up to see the movie as early as 8:30 PM. I'm sure that in some locations it was even worse. I arrived to wait for the movie at around 9:50 PM. I sat in a lawn chair and chatted with some friends. At 11:00 PM the theater decided to seat everyone. After spending a great deal of money on Popcorn and a large drink I was soon in my seat waiting for the movie to start. As, I sat I talked to people around me, I tried to understand why people are so compassionate for this thing called Twilight. I'd post the answer to that question in this review however, I find myself unable to because I just lack the capacity to understand how anyone could be so enthralled with this series. Eventually, the movie started playing. It started out promising...trailers for, "Narnia 3", "Paranormal Activity 2", and "Harry Potter 7".

Then...Eclipse started.

Within, the first few seconds of the movie you suddenly realize. What am I doing here? Why am I wasting my time on yet another bad movie? Maybe, it's just the spirit of the movie. The way that it's able to bring together not only people who love the movie series but people that hate the series as well. The way that it's able to produce countless jeers and cheers from the audience or some random quote from an audience member. And, the so bad, it's funny scenes in the movie.

Or, maybe we're all just insane.

To be fair, "Eclipse" is certainly the strongest movie in the series. But, really that's not saying much......

The acting has improved a bit from the first two movies. Dare I say it, the special effects are maybe starting to become "somewhat" decent. However, the negative far outweigh the positive. The story is still dull beyond belief and dissolves into a bunch of boring conversations. Conversations that include: Bella and Edward, Bella and Jacob, Jacob and Edward, and even Bella, Edward, and Jacob!

Another boring movie.

Another waste of time. But, millions will still see it. And, millions of Twihards will be superbly satisfied.

On, one final note it's nice to see that the series is starting to show signs of improvement. With promise of Oscar winning director, Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) directing the next installment maybe...just maybe the Twilight saga will finally be able to receive that much sought after Fresh Potato review. Until then though it's looking like Eclipse is yet another.........

Even with my huge disappointment of the sixth, i couldn't help but smile when i watched this.

Now on a completely different subject, an upcoming movie by the name of The Social Network tells of Eduardo Saverin and Mark Zuckerberg: the founders of Facebook. The trailer doesn't reveal much, but I am pretty excited considering it is directed by David Fincher who has a very impressive history, consisting of the incredible Fight Club. Also, the screenplay draft has been regarded as "unpredictable, funny, touching, and sad". Stars Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake.

Despite a stellar cast with the likes of Jake Gyllenhall (Donnie Darko, Brothers), Ben Kingsley (Photographing Fairies, Shutter Island), and Alfred Molina (Spider-man 2, An Education), they just cant bring the movie out of what is yet another terrible video game movie adaptation.

Although time traveling elements can be used effectively, (see other Jake Gyllenhaal time travel movie Donnie Darko) in this case it just serves the purpose of making the viewer feel as though they were cheated. This movie takes you on 1.5 hour journey full of bad acting, a bad script, and terrible special effects. After enduring all this the movie decides “eh…lets just say none of it ever happened.” Thus, literally reversing the entire movie.

One positive thing that can be said about this movie is its use of parkour. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Jake Gyllenhaal is certainly not the person pulling off these stunts. However, the stunts that are pulled off are nothing short of stunning. Very many of them aren’t even CGI and trust me…you will be able to tell the difference. The CGI is really that bad.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a major disappointment. In short, don’t waste your time.

Movie producer, Christopher Meledandri, has just announced plans for a new adaption of the classic, "The Addams Family". Meledandri also went on to express his desire for Tim Burton to direct the project. Other details included were the movie's use of stop motion and the possibility of the film being filmed entirely in black and white.

At one time it may have seemed like a positive thing to have Tim Burton in the director's seat for such a project. But, after seeing the utter catastrophe that was "Alice in Wonderland", one can only hope that Tim Burton doesn't screw up yet another franchise.

Box Office Updates - Toy Story 3 Leads Box Office Once Again

NUMBER 1 FOR A SECOND WEEK

In a weekend box office report that pleases the editors of Rotten Potatoes, Toy Story 3 has once again led the charge with a $59 Million weekend. Bringing it's total gross to a very strong $226 million total domestically.

Two newcomers made their debut this weekend. Sony Picture's "Grown Ups" and 20th Century Fox's "Knight and Day". Despite largely negative reviews for "Grown Ups" the movie managed to place 2nd at the box office, with a respectable $41 Million. Other newcomer "Knight and Day" didn't fare so well grossing only a mere $20 Million. Tom Cruise's future as an action star is beginning to look uncertain.

Coming from someone who liked Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, and Billy Madison, Adam Sandler has really lost any humor he had. This new outing relies on big names and lowbrow and gross out humor once again; however, it just isn't funny. The very few somewhat funny parts can't compensate for the weird dialogue and dumb plot. There's really nothing much more to say. They win a basketball game, meet a few decades later, and act like kids and expect their kids to do the same. It was such a waste of a good cast, and could have been a little better with a better script. Grown Ups honestly had no point; it was an immature, forgettable sausage fest. These grown ups need to grow up.

Robin Williams wants a role in Batman 3

Anyone, who has seen Robin Williams in his dramatic roles has to admit...this man can act. I'm sure that most of these people would be very enthused to see Mr. Williams make an appearance in Batman 3 as the key villain. Apparently, Robin Williams also has a very strong desire for a role in Batman 3. In a recent interview Williams had this to say on the subject...

"I would do Batman in a second, playing anyone, I'd play The Riddler in the next one, although it would be hard to top Heath as the villain and I'm a little hairy for tights... The Batman films have screwed me twice before: years ago they offered my The Joker and then gave it to Jack Nicholson, then they offered me The Riddler and gave it to Jim Carrey. I'd be like, 'OK, is this a real offer? If it is, then the answer's yes. Don't pump me again motherf**kers.'"

Please Christopher Nolan, do the world a favor. And bring Robin Williams to the Batman series.

Peter Jackson FINALLY decides to Direct "The Hobbit"

After, "The Hobbit" movie adaptation was turned down by Guillermo del Toro. Rumors, started to swirl about who exactly would replace this highly acclaimed director. The possible candidates included director, David Yates (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Prince or Persia) and Neil Blomkamp (District 9). Though both would have been suitable choices it appears as though MGM and Warner Bros. have finally reached a deal with the original "Lord of the Rings" director, Peter Jackson.

Now, hopefully this project can finally get off the ground and officially start filming.

MI4 - May really be an "Impossible" Mission

Early reports are coming in that point to movie studio Paramount adopting a "wait and see" approach when it comes to the funding of "Mission Impossible 4". Despite recent news that pointed to Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Iron Giant, Ratouille) directing the upcoming feature. Rumors are now popping up that say the studio is waiting to see how new release "Knight and Day" does at the box office as to whether or not they will end up funding a fourth Mission Impossible adventure.

"Knight and Day" features Tom Cruise as an action hero that appears to be very similar to his character from the "Mission Impossible" series. Which makes this seem like a pretty smart idea by Paramount. If "Knight and Day" does well, clearly audiences want Cruise. If it bombs, clearly audiences don't want Cruise. Pretty simple really. Paramount is in kind of a "win-win" situation right here. If "Knight and Day" ends up becoming a huge blockbuster Paramount wins because one, audiences clearly desire more Cruise and two, MI4 would also benefit from it's being an already established franchise. Those two factors taken into account lead to...MOOLAH. Now, if "Knight and Day" ends up bombing at the box office it doesn't hurt Paramount at all because "Knight and Day" is after all a 20th Century Fox Production. Paramount can laugh at 20th Century Fox's misfortune and move forward on something that actually makes money.

What will end up happening? Well, that's up to the reader of this blog post. You want "MI4"? Then go see "Knight and Day". You hate Cruise? Well....then don't go see "Knight and Day" and laugh at Cruise's career down spiraling into an abyss of meaningless. The choice is yours....

Instead of using their amazing talent to develop a brand new animated franchise. Disney has decided to take the easy road and just re-release their classic animated features only this time...they are in 3D. Perhaps, Disney is starting to believe they lack the ability to make successful animated films. And perhaps, they're right. Their latest animated release, "The Princess and the Frog", was reviewed well by critics but failed at the box office especially when compared to previous animated Disney releases.

Whatever the case, expect 3D versions of "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King" in 2011 at a theater near you!

Paranormal Activity 2!!

I know that everyone is looking forward to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hitting theaters Wednesday, June 30. OMG the excitement! Almost as exciting as watching NASCAR or going to the dentist! I also know how much everyone loved Paranormal Activity, including me. Yeah you weren't scared blah blah. I was. Now you might be asking yourself, what in the world do these to have in common?? Well I'll tell you. The teaser trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 will be revealed when Eclipse hits theaters next week!

Tod "Kip" Williams is set to direct while no cast members have been confirmed. The film opens October 22.

Since Williams is just waiting on us to give him some advice, here it goes: don't follow the pattern of similar movies such as The Blair Witch 2.

Daniel Radcliffe Starring in...ANOTHER Hollywood Remake

Hollywood continues to amaze us. Instead of opting to produce something new and exciting, they have opted for something old and boring. The latest news reports point to Daniel Radcliffe starring in a remake of the classic "All's Quiet on the Western Front".

To be fair, the original movie surely isn't a terrible movie. In 1930, the movie won the Oscar for Best Picture. If done right this could be another highly entertaining movie. But one has to ask, is it even necessary? In fact, "All's Quiet on the Western Front" already received another highly acclaimed television movie remake in 1979. Does the world really need another version?

At this rate, don't be suprised to see a trailer for the remake of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" attached to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2." YOU READ IT HERE ON ROTTEN POTATOES FIRST!!!

George Lopez has moved out of the shelter and into the sky with the new movie, Rio. I can't help but be excited for when it comes out, next easter. Starring Jessie Eisenberg (Zombieland), Anne Hathaway (Alice in Wonderland), and Rodrigo Santoro (Love Actually), Rio could actually make use of the increasingly popular, money-making 3D. The story is basically about "a nerdy macaw who leaves the comforts of his cage in small-town Minnesota and heads to Rio de Janeiro". The animation is brilliant, and the birds look great, but what you would expect from the makers of Ice Age. If they provide a good story, this could be a great movie.

Mr. Popper's Penguins Adaptation

Mr. Popper’s penguins was one of my all time favorite books as a kid. The story goes a little something like this:

Mr. Popper is a painter who wants to travel far far away. He gets a surprise box from the admiral in antarctic he sent letter to, and turns out, it's a penguin. The penguin lays eggs, and now they have 12 penguins. To earn money to feed them, Mr. Popper trains the penguins and turns them into a circus act.

It is a really cool and interesting book, and one can only hope Fox does a good job with it's adaptation. They are no Pixar when it comes to this, but we'll just have to wait and see. Possible stars as Mr. Popper include Jim Carrey, Owen Wilson, and Jack Black. Mark Waters, the man behind Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Mean Girls, and Freaky Friday, is choice for director.

REVIEW: Just plain fun.

Went into the movie expecting very little. Left the theater, pleasantly surprised. I had a blast watching it. At it's heart the A-team movie is a "Popcorn" movie. It never tries to be something it's not. The movie is trying to be an enjoyable, funny, improbable action extravaganza. And it definitely accomplishes this.

Sharlto Copley (District 9), steals the show as an insane war veteran named "Murdock". He stars alongside Liam Neeson who also gives a strong performance as the leader of the A-Team, "Hannibal Smith". The other two stars of the movie round up the cast with two forgettable performances. Bradley Cooper plays the role of "Face", and provides us with his typical performance of generic "pretty" boy. While newcomer Quinton Jackson as "B.A." gives a wannabe Mr. T performance that begs the question, why not just use Mr. T?

Despite two poor performances the movie does end up providing us with some genuine entertainment in the hot summer months. Which is nice to see especially when one takes into account the many terrible movies that the summer of 2010 has provided us thus far.

Eat lots of Popcorn.

REVIEW: Toy Story 3 has broken the curse. The curse that has haunted movies for ages. The curse of….the third movie. For what seems like ages, a third movie has served as the catalyst of the death of the series. Just look at some of the many examples: Spider-man 3, Rocky 3, The Godfather Part III, Shrek the Third, X-men 3, Return of the Jedi, Superman III, Back to the Future 3, and any American Pie movie. These are just some of the examples that come to mind and they all retain the same message, third movies SUCK.

But…one can never doubt Pixar.

I’m starting to become convinced that Pixar lacks the ability to create a bad movie. Toy Story 3 is the eleventh movie to come from the studio and, it continues to carry that wonderful Pixar charm. Animation is as usual top notch, as is the music, and art. None of this would mean anything though if Pixar didn’t provide us with a GOOD story. Pixar, once again pulls double duty and gives us a GREAT story.

What so many studios tend to do when creating a third movie is either provide a rehash of a previous entry in the series or try to pack so much into the story that it causes the movie to become unbearable, confusing, campy, and just plain bad. Yes, Toy Story 3 does have a ton of characters. However, it never reaches a point that confuses or causes the viewer to hate the story. The additional characters are here for a reason and actually help make the movie more entertaining. Toy Story 3 is a movie that will make you laugh hysterically, tug at your heartstrings, and, as what was so aptly stated by a friend of mine, makes you feel like a kid again.
